History Book Celebrates 75 Years
of Statewide Electric Co-op Action
In the midst of Depression-era hardship, leaders of newly formed, cooperatively owned electric utilities in Wisconsin created a state association to assist them in their drive to electrify unserved rural areas.
That association, now celebrating 75 years of service, is marking the milestone with a special historical volume.
Authored by historian Michael Goc, STATEWIDE: Wisconsin’s Electric Cooperative 1936–2011 chronicles the challenges, innovations, and successes of Wisconsin’s rural electrification program. Included are profiles of the key people whose vision and labors advanced the development of rural communities and whose statewide efforts also spurred formation of other state, regional, and national organizations to assist with the monumental job.
The 179 pages of this attractive book feature compelling narrative and hundreds of photos—many of them never before published—from Wisconsin rural electrification’s first 75 years. It’s 8-1/2 by 11 inches in size, indexed, and with dust jacket.
