Welcome to the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association.

We are proud of our history.

  • Our statewide organization, founded in 1936, was the first rural electric statewide association in the nation.
  • The Wisconsin electric cooperatives were instrumental in starting our national rural electric insurance company – Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange.
  • In 1940 our Wisconsin rural electric cooperatives began the nation’s first rural electric statewide publication for consumer-members, which we now call the Wisconsin Energy Cooperative News.

With our dedicated staff, WECA provides our 25 cooperatives with education programs, safety training, youth scholarships and updates on issues of interest to our consumer-members.

We look forward to a great future in which we can continue to serve our member cooperatives.
