Richland Electric Cooperative CEO and General Manager Shannon Clark was elected board chairman of the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) Sunday by fellow directors on the 17-member governing panel.

The vote came in a special board meeting following the NRTC annual meeting for its electric members, held in conjunction with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association annual meeting. Clark was one of three board incumbents elected earlier to new three-year terms by the full NRTC electric membership.

NRTC electric membership. Clark succeeds Jeff Wilson, CEO and general manager of West Carolina Rural Telephone Cooperative in Abbeville, South Carolina, who has served as NRTC board chairman for the past two years.

Clark had been serving as vice chairman of the NRTC board and Tim Mergen, CEO and general manager of Meeker Cooperative Light & Power Association in Litchfield, Minnesota, was elected to succeed Clark in that position. Mergen, in turn, had been serving as NRTC secretary-treasurer. Jimmy Todd, CEO and general manager of Nex-Tech in Lenora, Kansas, was elected to succeed Mergen in that post.
