Chippewa Valley Technical College, Eau Claire, Wisc.CVTC instructors are dynamic partners for students, employers, and communities to learn, train, and succeed in an associate degree, technical diploma, basic education, continuing education, and/or contract training program. An instructor works with students beyond the classroom to ensure their success, models CVTC core abilities, and demonstrates a commitment to excellence in program/course/training content and delivery. Overview and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement relevant and progressive curriculum.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction through the planning and implementation of effective learning strategies and environments.
  • Create performance-based assessments aligned with competencies through formative and summative measures.
  • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and the implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture across the College.
  • Ability to model integrity through self-awareness, personal accountability, ethical behavior, quality standards, and sustainable practices.
  • Ability to think critically by applying problem-solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately, and evaluating alternatives.

  • Successful completion of a Lineworker Apprenticeship program.
  • Associate’s degree in a related area OR an associate’s degree in any area with a technical diploma in Electrical Power Distribution. If all other knowledge, skills, and abilities are present, candidates in process of completing an associate’s degree may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience as a journeyworker, of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of hire. The one year (2,000 hours) of recent experience may be waived if the instructor has at least 2 years post−secondary teaching experience in the appropriate field within 5 years prior to the date of hire.
  • Knowledge and understanding of and adherence to safety procedures common to the electric line industry.
  • Class A CDL or ability to obtain.
  • Experience operating the following equipment preferred: Digger Derrick truck, bucket truck, backhoe, trencher, plow.
  • This position may include teaching online and requires expertise in integrating technology.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Qualified per CVTC requirements at time of, and throughout, employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) standards, and/or other job-specific licensing standards.
