ENERGY USE - METERING TECHNICIAN
Barron Electric Cooperative, Barron, Wisc.—is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Energy Use/Metering Technician position.
The Energy Use/Metering Technician installs and audits the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, exchanges meters, responds to trouble calls, troubleshoots and tests meters, verifies equipment security, investigates power diversions and illegal taps, and maintains the chain of evidence from illegal taps, responds to high-bill concerns, obtains and provides meter readings for member billing, and assists in maintaining the Cooperative’s load management system.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Technical diploma in a related field or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Must have and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Have good English language skills, written and verbal, and basic math skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; specifically, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Highly organized and enjoy detail-oriented work requiring accuracy without direct supervision.
- Ability to drive, repeatedly get in and out of a vehicle, and walk to meter location in all weather conditions.
- Perform medium physical work, infrequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to work in stooped and cramped positions.
- Must be able to work outdoors and travel occasionally for meetings and assigned duties.
