WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Board Members, GMs/CEOs, and Administrative Staff (those who take minutes, plan agendas, etc.)

A great meeting is one that stays on track, is fair, and reaches clear decisions. People leave them feeling like they accomplished good things for the benefit of the cooperative and its members. But few directors and chairs are equipped with the knowledge to make this happen. This session will highlight the pain points with regard to meetings: setting good agendas, getting adequate pre-meeting information, and knowing enough of the basics to be an effective participant. Yes, there are 98 different types of motions in Robert’s Rules of Order, but Colette will show you which 10 to learn for nearly every situation.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Colette Collier Trohan (MS, CAE, PRP, CPP-T), holds a unique set of credentials: a master’s degree in nonprofit management, the Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives, and the two highest credentials in the field of parliamentary procedure–the Professional Registered Parliamentarian and Certified Professional Parliamentarian-Teacher. She is also the president of A Great Meeting, Inc., a company dedicated to developing, publishing, and providing materials and services to help people have great meetings that are fair, well-organized and productive. She consults on all types of association governance issues, including bylaws, policies, training, presiding, minutes, and meeting preparation. With over 30 years of helping clients in just about every organizational situation, Colette approaches each situation with flexibility, a balanced perspective, and a sense of humor.

A minimum of 15 attendees is needed to hold this class.
