In this role you will spend the majority of your time leading out on safety processes and programs to ensure a safe work environment for all, and positively guiding the company in our strong and successful safety culture. This position is also responsible for the overall maintenance and security of the facility, and for ensuring environmental compliance. Key Responsibilities & Results:
Develop, promote and maintain a safe and secure work environment for Connexus employees

  • Lead and effectively communicate safety and security process and procedure changes
  • Research and communicate regulatory standard changes and industry best-practices that affect safety, security, environmental, and industrial health
  • Assist in developing, writing, and administering safety and security policies and implement best practices throughout the organization
  • Oversee DOT compliance
  • Develop and present employee safety, security, industrial health, and environmental training (some training may be subcontracted)
  • Work with leaders ensure that all employees understand the goals, values, vision, and strategies of Connexus Energy – with an emphasis on how safety fits into each
  • Investigate incidents, lead the identification and remediation of workplace hazards, and lead safety and security improvements; ensures pertinent recordkeeping is up-to-date in electronic database
  • Lead Safety Committee as mentor and coach, supports safety teams, and active participant of the safety steering team
  • Develop and lead an effective audit and survey system that drives safety and security improvements and ensures alignment with corporate expectations
  • Identify and maintain metrics that accurately reflect performance
Manage environmental programs
  • Develop and implement environmental programs that meet Federal, State, and local requirements
  • Ensure hazardous and special wastes are disposed of properly
  • Develop and maintain list of waste streams and lead process improvements
  • Ensure reporting and recordkeeping are maintained accurately and up-to-date
  • Research and communicate regulatory standard changes
Manage the facilities function to ensure uninterrupted operations, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, lighting, roofing, grounds, and more; often working in conjunction with contractors and third parties
  • Manage the facilities team resources to ensure compliance with all legal requirements and upkeep of the facility, property and grounds
  • Develop and manage the daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic preventative maintenance plan
  • Ensure short-term repairs are addressed, as well as long-term maintenance, repair, and replacement
  • Responsible for ensuring all projects are completed in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner
Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:
  • BA/BS degree in Safety, Risk Management, Industrial Technology, Business, Loss Control, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in OSHA, DOT, Environmental, Worker’s Compensation and Safety Practices
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent (preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic safety practices, preferably in electrical distribution or related industry
  • Understanding of construction/maintenance methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT requirements
  • Ability to conduct hazard assessments and develop corrective action plans
  • Ability to develop and deliver trainings
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies
  • Ability to positively influence others
  • Team player and excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to objectively and with an open mind evaluate and apply sound problem-solving methodology
  • Ability to think and act strategically and also execute on initiatives
  • Sound records management skills with detail orientation
