PLANT ACCOUNTANT - BROADBAND

East Central Energy, Braham, Minn.— is looking to add a detail-oriented Plant Accountant - Broadband to our team. Do you enjoy working with numbers and spreadsheets? Are you a critical thinker who can accurately analyze reports and data? Then this is a great fit for you!

A Day in the Life

• Monitor broadband work orders for “as built” and financial reasonableness, comparing staking to materials used and actual expenses, and making expense adjustments as needed.
• Verify that work order jobs conform to Rural Utilities Service (RUS) accounting standards and follow RUS procedures.
• Ensure accuracy of broadband work order coding and prepare various reports for the tracking of grants.
• Check accuracy of general ledger and subsidiary records.
• Maintain detailed records of broadband fixed assets for external auditors.
• Ensure jobs and materials are either issued or reconciled from broadband warehouse.
• Review standard costs for broadband plant and update when needed.

Requirements

• Two-year degree in accounting plus a minimum of two years’ accounting experience; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

Specialized Knowledge

• Understand RUS accounting principles.

Skills/abilities

• Possess a high level of integrity; respect and maintain confidentiality.
• Clearly communicate ideas and facts.
• Confidently utilize spreadsheet programs.
• Prioritize multiple tasks with strict and varying deadlines.
• Concentrate on detail to ensure accuracy of data entered and reports generated.
• Perform basic mathematical computations for reconciliation of debits and credits in general ledger accounts and to apply depreciation to fixed assets and overhead calculations.

The starting salary range for a fully qualified candidate for this position is $50,000-$58,000. This is a non-exempt (hourly), non-supervisory, onsite position at Braham, MN Headquarters.
