Rural Electric Supply Cooperative (RESCO), Middleton, Wis., is a member-owned, not-for-profit distributor of electrical products serving the upper midwest.  We are looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our team in Middleton, Wis.  This position will select and build relationships with suitable suppliers along with negotiating best pricing and maintaining inventory levels at all warehouse locations. Responsibilities include:

  • Process and review purchase requisitions and place purchase orders as needed
  • Maintain inventory cost and ensure stock levels are kept at appropriate levels
  • Responsible for data management on open purchase orders and updating ERP system with correct ETA date from vendors
  • Maintain and update current vendor costs in ERP system
  • Identify potential cost savings opportunities
  • Set up new inventory part numbers as needed for sales
  • Monitor and maintain stock versus “order as needed” items
  • Coordinate weekly inventory cycle counts
  • Review and maintain all incoming price quotes and provide analysis
  • Process warehouse transfers
  • Run weekly and monthly reports on inventory turns and fill rates along with other history reports and backorder reports
  • Run vendor reports and evaluate all purchase history and forecasting needs
  • Review invoice discrepancies for vendors assigned for stock material
  • Effectively communicate and interact with sales, accounting and warehouse personnel
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree along with three years of experience in purchasing.  Other qualifications include:
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Detail oriented
