PURCHASING MANAGER

Rural Electric Supply Cooperative (RESCO), Middleton, Wisc.is a wholesale distributor of high voltage electrical products. As a member-owned organization, we provide electric cooperatives and utilities in the Upper Midwest with competitive pricing, delivery, and support for their electrical supply needs. We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our team in Middleton, WI. This position will lead the purchasing department along with inventory management for all our locations. Responsibilities include:

  • Forecast to make sure on-hand inventory levels are adequate
  • Review stock quotes and negotiate pricing with suppliers
  • Oversee inventory adjustments, shipping discrepancies, and freight claims
  • Research and evaluate new and existing suppliers to compare pricing, quality, and lead times
  • Responsible for conflict resolution of supplier issues
  • Work closely with sales staff on new products to stock and manufacturers to partner with
  • Complete and review monthly reports on inventory turns and fill rates
  • Ensure inventory data is up-to-date and accurate in the ERP system
  • Manage and report on cost savings initiatives
  • Participate in product training with vendors to gain in-depth knowledge of the products we sell
  • Supervise, train, and mentor purchasing staff
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in supply chain management, business, or related field along with five years of experience in purchasing.  Other qualifications include:
  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience with ERP systems preferably Epicor Prophet 21
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
