ECLIPSE—ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE LEADERS
WECA’s new program offering, ECLIPSE (An extension of ECL, which stands for Electric Cooperative Leaders) is geared toward professional development of staff members who already excel and demonstrate that leadership spark, regardless of position. You know who they are....the ones people rely on and go to for answers, guidance, or direction. The ones who prove respect is earned. They lead by example, even if they are not, officially, leadership. This course offering will help develop and grow those skills to make great employees even better, and well-positioned for leadership roles.
This offering includes core classes plus electives, all geared at elevating skills to grow well-rounded leaders. There will also be online options. ECLIPSE enrollees will be challenged to expand their professional skills to make the most of their potential now, and in the future. Attendees will be recognized at future WECA annual meetings for their ECLIPSE course completion, and the leadership skills they developed.
Attendees of ECLIPSE will gain a deeper understanding of all aspects of electric cooperative leadership, from the qualities and behaviors of strong leaders to communications, human resources, finance, conflict resolution, and more. Elective offerings will help hone skills in areas such as public speaking, legislative activity, change management, and more.
Session 1 (CORE Leader Training course - 2 days)
Think Like a Leader AND Relate Like a Leader
This two-day session is designed to elevate participants’ leadership thinking and strategic decision-making. Attendees will explore the core principles of leadership, including how to lead with clarity and intent. Topics include cultivating trust, fostering innovation, and building cohesive teams. Participants will also learn techniques to maintain a broad perspective on leadership challenges and understand how to apply relational intelligence through personal awareness and team dynamics.
Session 2 (CORE Leader Training course - 2 days)
Communicate Like a Leader AND Act Like a Leader
This two-day session focuses on effective leadership communication and execution. Participants will learn to navigate organizational change, manage conflicts, and enhance team collaboration. The training will cover strategies for giving and receiving feedback, conducting productive meetings, and applying leadership principles to achieve strategic goals. Attendees will leave with actionable insights on how to lead by example and foster an environment that supports continuous growth and innovation.
Session 3 (CORE Leader Training course - 1 day)
Putting It All Together | Correlate, Create, & Contribute
In this one-day session we will CORRELATE what you have learned about being a leader and leading your cooperative with fundamentals of the cooperative business model. This session will focus on the skills you have learned, HOW to apply them into your current work and the future needs of your cooperative. We will spend time CREATING a plan for your new skills and abilities to be utilized through the lens of being an employee and leader of an electric cooperative. Through the new knowledge you have gained you will increase your success through new approaches to CONTRIBUTIONS you can make. This session with coordinate the various aspects of the leadership program.
